Emergency Tele-communicator 1.

Position Emergency Tele-communicator 1

Job Description:

This is an entry level position for emergency telecommunications dispatcher.

Duties include:

     Reports to on duty supervisor on all emergency matters

     Operating telephones, radios and other communications equipment

     Staying in constant contact with all public safety personnel

     Responding to emergency and distress calls

     Dispatching safety personnel as needed to the proper locations in a timely manner

     Exercising good judgement while maintaining discretion of the position

     Receive incoming calls, obtain addresses and nature of call for proper dispatching

     Be able to exchange information with other local and federal agencies

     Be able to log and keep vital dispatch records

     Follow all protocols handed down by MS Justice Information Center (MJ 1C), National Crime Information Center (NCIC), National Law Enforcement Telecommunications (NLET), and the National Interagency Incident Management System (NHMS)


Minimum Qualifications:

     18 years of age or older

     High school diploma or GED equivalent

     Good verbal and written skills

     Ability to sit for long periods of time

     Good listening skills

     Must be able to multitask

     Experience preferred but not mandatory
